TALK ABOUT IT With Special Guest: Jumabee

Good Evening viewers..
Welcome to another episode of your favorite program on Lokcitymusic “Talk About It”
Today, we have with us a respected head in the industry. The Cassava crooner himself “Jumabee”.
Thanks brov
Hope you had a nice day?
Yes I did
First off, I’lld like you to tell us your full name.
I’m sure most of our viewers and your fans would wanna know that
My biological names are Juwon Demas Olorunnipa
How did you get the name “Jumabee”?
It was carved out of my biological name Juwon “Must” Be.
“Must” means “ma” in Yoruba. Hence, Juwon”Ma”bee -» JUMABEE.
Nice..
What part of the country are you from?
I’m from the middlebelt region of the country. Kogi state precisely
How long have you been into music?
Started music at a tender age. As a matter of fact, i was the first choir secretary of my church but professionally I kicked off in 2005.
Wow. Cool..
What kind of music do you do?
I created my own kind of music.
Carved out four different kinds of genre from highlife, Afro, Rhythm n percussions to create my kind of music which I call “GONG POP”
What was your first studio work like?
Smooth I would say.
It was my first experience and I would never forget.. But it was more difficult cause it was recorded on a radio cassette not as easy as it is this days on CDs..
So it took a week for them to cut and join before we could achieve a perfect mix.
Oh mehn..
What are the challenges you’ve faced so far?
Hmmmmm….
Challenges comes in Phases.
First being you trying to convince your parents to let you do music,
although that aspect wasn’t that difficult for me cos my mum is the sweetest mother any son could ever wish for.
The second is Finance. Which tends to be more difficult.
But as a growing child I have always known nothing good comes easy so that has been my watchword and to be honest, I have been putting in work.

Have you gotten to that point you wish to be in the industry?
Not at all.
Am yet to start but people laugh at me when ever I say am still rhearsing after having 27 awards already including best collaboration on AMAA..
For me, music will start when it gives birth for me cos she’s still pregnant and the scan revealed she’s got ova 200 kids in that Tummy. lol
Lol. Nice
Did you grow up in Kogi state?
Not fully cause I relocated to lagos since I couldn’t stop the love I had for music
Who is your role model?
Funny enough, I’m the role model of myself, but I have few peeps I admire. The likes of Sleeq, Frank Edwards, Ay live, 2face idibia..
Mind telling us about your love life?
*Lips sealed* :X
Hehe.. Okay!
What’s the biggest show you’ve been to?
Hmmmm….
That’s a big question Coz I have had numerous events from Glo rock n rule, Star trek, Guinness Super eagles concert, President Goodluck Jonathan “U CAN’T SWAG MY VOTE” to mention a few…
But the ongoing COKESTUDIOAFRICA concert Is an experience I won’t forget in a rush Coz we have visited four institutions (Lagos,Ife,Uniport,Unilorin) which extended my fan base…

What are the problems you feel the music industry is facing right now in Nigeria?
It used to be structure but thank God for the millennium switch in our industry.
The only thing I feel we should pay attention to is the area of management which most artistes lack.
And If the government pay more attention on music sector, the hidden talents Will be discovered
Let’s talk about how you got to gain yourself this much recognition you have already.
What was the means of promotion that helped build your fan base?I.E how u moved from been an underground artist to the type who’s now bagging a lot of awards
Like I said earlier, the law of nature states that “what ever you consistently do Will pay off someday”. I have been on this since the days of radio cassettes.
Now tell me why it shouldn’t pay off when am still rocking with CDs?
And to be sincere, I’m yet to start but howfar so far has been the grace of God Almighty
What do you do for a living apart from music?
I studied fisheries at the university, so I write feasibilities and am into fashion, events and farming.
Which of your songs do you love most?
That one track of yours you always listen to and be like; “Mehn I’m good!”
Funny enough, I hardly listen to my songs. Once I record them, I keep them for the record.
But I have found myself frequently listening to my yet to be released song with Cynthia Morgan.
Oh.. Good
When is it going to be released?
Soon

Do you have any album out yet?
Yeah.
One or more?
Just one.
Few years back, I put some work together in the memory of my late dad.. So it was more like a project I did for him.
And it was premiered around my territory
That’s cool..
Are you working on any project presently?
Yeah! But wouldn’t want to talk about it. All I know is it promises to be appealing and it drops soon.
Are you planning to get married anytime soon?
Na God know that one oooo!.
But I’m just 15years old. A small boy like me?? Abeg I no know wetin be marriage oo!
Haha.. 15 years? Then Goodluck Jonathan must be 8 years old.
How much do you charge to get featured?
That’s a management thingy, I don’t handle that department. they only tell me who am recording with and when.
Okay..
Before we leave, what do you have for upcoming artistes out there tryin hard to be heard?
They should put God first Coz he’s the giver of talent.
And for me, the basis for success is academics Coz it gives edge over everything. More importantly, be hardworking Coz d level of input determines the output.
Thanks man..
We’ve come to the end of this episode of “Talk About It” with Ashraph.More to hit your screen soon!
#Peace!
